A 2 day mini-retreat with Anne Witmer & Meghan Maris honoring the cycle of creation and dissolution through practice, reverence and ritual.

In recognition of the ending of such an extraordinary year, Anne and Meghan will be hosting a two part practice observing the energy of dissolution and awareness represented by Lord Siva and the harmonizing and sustaining energy of Lord Krishna.

Thursday, December 31st 4:00–5:45 pm
Unwavering Surrender: A Yin practice honoring the process of releasing the past year.

Friday, January 1st 11:00am–12:45pm
Dynamic Stability: A hatha practice to welcome the new year with purpose and intention.

The task of every yogin is to create a foundation of stability & peace to navigate the on-going process of change while at the same time allowing enough openness to release that which is dying away. One quintessential verse of the Bhagavad Gita describes that skill in action is the ability to discern what it is to perform action in inaction.

Action in Inaction

Yin yoga is a quiet practice in which poses are held in stillness for a substantial length of time.  The body and mind are quieted during the long holds which allows for the free flowing of chi (vital energy).

Inaction in Action

Hatha yoga is more of a dynamic practice than Yin.  But within the movement, we strive for an unwavering focus and stillness of the mind. Through alignment of the body, breath and senses, the yogin creates dynamic stability.

In addition to the physical practice each session will include ritual, journaling and meditation.
